A growing firm is seeking an Audit Manager with expertise in State Government. This role offers a clear path to Partnership, a balanced work environment and the option to work both remotely and in the office. Relocation support is available.The Manager will act as the primary connection between the client, the Partner, and the professional team. They will oversee multiple audit and accounting projects simultaneously, manage staffing and engagement schedules, and cultivate new business opportunities for the Firm. The Manager will train and mentor staff, demonstrating the potential for future growth within the organization. Additionally, they will be responsible for nurturing client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain strong client relationships by staying engaged year-round and understanding all aspects of the client's operations.Serve as the lead on client engagements, ensuring compliance with firm policies and frameworks.Sign off on attest opinions as a representative of the firm.Oversee all phases of client deliverables, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.Keep the Partner informed of any important developments and consult on potential issues.Supervise engagement teams, provide training, and review work papers.Act as a subject matter expert in governmental audits.Lead business development efforts by networking and generating leads.Assume responsibility for initial client communication and fee estimates.Ensure all engagements follow firm policies and procedures.RequirementsMinimum 10 years of public accounting experience with 2 years in a senior management role, focusing on state and local government audits.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.Active CPA license.Willingness to travel to client sites and firm offices.Proven track record of bringing in new business.Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance audits.Ability to train and manage departmental staff.Knowledge of not-for-profit audits a plus.Working EnvironmentHybrid work setup with flexibility to work from home, office, or client locations.Occasional same-day travel to meet clients or attend meetings.Possible out-of-town trips with overnight stays for client visits or seminars.Overtime may be required during peak seasons.
